Songwriters’ Open Mic

featuring Graham Patzner
of Whiskerman

Original songs only!

Created and hosted by our own Mana Maddy, Ashkenaz’s Songwriters’ Open Mic Night is an intimate showcase for talented songwriters and singers (and bands), giving them a supportive audience and a chance to gain valuable performance experience without having to book a whole gig. This is a special Thursday edition of the monthly Open Mic before it settles into a second Sunday slot. Each night includes one or more featured acts that perform longer sets. January features Graham Patzner of Whiskerman.

Open Mic for performers: Solo, duo, or trios only. Sign up on arrival. Names will be drawn from a hat to determine order of performance. There is a five-minute maximum, including setup/breakdown. No drum kit available. Original songs only – no covers.

Graham Patzner performs edgy, hallucinatory soul songs with guitar, piano, violin, and a voice that’s both powerful and vulnerable. His lyrics dig deep into familiar subjects of love and loss, but then wander further out… into the territory of ghosts, and beyond to the archetypal landscapes of a vivid hallucination… before arriving back safely into a lover’s arms.
