Ashkenaz presents dance music from a variety of world and roots music genres, including African, Balkan, Belly Dance, Berber, Bluegrass/Oldtime, Blues, Brazilian, Cajun/Zydeco, Caribbean, Flamenco, Grateful Dead, Klezmer, Music for Kids, Reggae, Salsa/Merengue, South Asian, Swing, World Beat.

If you would like to be considered for booking, please first determine whether your genre of music is a good match for Ashkenaz. Review the Ashkenaz calendar of upcoming shows. Is your group's music a fit for Ashkenaz? Other things to keep in mind:

• Do you have two full sets of music?
• Do you have a CD in rotation on local radio stations (preferably on college or public radio)?
• Do you have a strong mailing list or strong local name recognition?

1. What local radio stations are currently playing your CD?
2. How strong is your mailing list and/or local name recognition?
3. Where else in the Bay Area have you played. When and for what cover?
4. What date(s) are you looking for?
5. What cover charge would you recommend for your show?
6. How would you describe your music? What is your vision of your show?
7. What is your web address?

Remember, Ashkenaz receives lots of music packets from groups interested in performing. Unfortunately, Kristen is not able to get back to everyone. Please do not call. If Ashkenaz is interested in booking your band, we will contact you.

We are currently booking 2-3 months ahead and expect performers to help promote their gig through print publicity, radio promotion, postering, internet listings, fan mailings, etc. Kristen will discuss all information about house terms and publicity once a date has been roughed in.
