Ashkenaz
Music & Dance Community Center is a unique cultural treasure. For
over 30 years, Ashkenaz has celebrated the diversity of music and
dance traditions from around the world by presenting nightly live
music performances and offering an array of dance classes. Ashkenaz
strives to build community and promote intercultural understanding
and appreciation.
Ashkenaz
is known far and wide as a community gathering place. We welcome
your participation in the Ashkenaz community through attending shows
and classes and donating time or money toward our efforts to fulfill
our mission. See the links at left for more information.
Since
1997, following the death of its founder, David Nadel, Ashkenaz
has been a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. The
reason we are able to offer such a spectrum of music and dance at
reasonable prices is that we are funded by sources other than door
admissions and café revenue. Because we strive to keep ticket
prices affordable and to pay our artists fairly (giving them 75%
of ticket sales after expenses), we are not able to cover our operating
expenses with just the revenue from operations. Some special programs,
such as the TapRoots series of 2004 and 2005, are funded in part
by grants from foundations, while other parts of our operations
are funded by government grants, corporate grants, and individual
donations. Approximately 30% of our contributed revenue comes from
individuals like you who are interested in perpetuating Ashkenaz
and its programs for the benefit of our community.
Currently,
we are in need of your help. Your individual donation (fully
tax-deductible) to Ashkenaz of any amount will greatly help our
efforts to continue to bring diverse and talented music and dance
to our venue. Thank you.
Donations
may be left in the donation box at the front desk or sent to:
