CAJUN
FILM NIGHT, AUGUST 2004
The
Cajun Film Night Benefit for Ashkenaz on Tuesday, August 31 was
both nostaligic and uplifting. We showed two incredible films about
the history of Louisiana's Cajun and zydeco music. Thank you to
John Whitehead, producer &
director of Make 'Em Dance: The Hackberry
Ramblers Story for giving us permission to show his film
in its Bay Area debut and Chris Strachwitz
& Les Blank, directors of J'ai
Été Au Bal.

SWING SHOWCASE, JUNE 2004
The
Jump'n Jive Swing Benefit for Ashkenaz on Sunday, June 27 was not
only romantic, it was downright fun. Thank you to all of the musicians

Orchestra, Lavay Smith & Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, Nick Lawrence,
Shanna Paulazzo and
the San Francisco Jitterbugs.

THE
BALKAN SHOWCASE, MARCH 2004
The
Balkan Showcase Benefit for Ashkenaz on March 20th was a fun and
successful event. Thank you to all of the musicians who performed
for free: George & Dan, Mosaic, Sviraci,
Rumeli, Kitka, Smyrna Time Machine, Zaedno, Late Cift, Brass Menagerie,
Top Dog Run, Zabava!Izvorno, Anoush, Panacea, Rumen Shopov &

Edessa. We greatly appreciate your talent and your dedication
to Ashkenaz! Thank you also to Lise Liepman for coordinating the
music for the night.

TEEN MUSIC COMPETITION, APRIL 2004
