  • Qualifications, Education and Experience

    2-5 years mixing live audio for front of house or monitors (ideally both) in performance space(s) with a 150 person capacity or more, or for a regularly performing or touring artist. 

    In depth knowledge of Signal Flow concepts

    In depth knowledge of microphones and micing technique for electric and acoustic instruments

    Experience Mixing on Digital Consoles (Ideally Behringer X32 or Midas M32) 

    Knowledge of effects and dynamics processing for live amplification

    A willingness to learn and take feedback from artists and management 

    A calm and friendly temperament in interactions with bands, audience and co-workers. 

    Experience Preferred

    2-5 years doing sound for folk, roots or regional music (ie. African, Roots Americana, Reggae, Swing, Salsa) with an interest or expertise in the nuanced demands of sound reinforcement for acoustic and lightly amplified music.

  • Apply to be a camp counselor at Ashkenaz’s Camp ‘Kenaz, a day camp centered around international music, dance, and craft! Camp ‘Kenaz offers counselors the opportunity to supervise and guide children through diverse and exciting activities such as Brazilian Folk dance classes, tie-dyeing to Grateful Dead, drum circles, and more. Counselors will also accompany kids on field trips to various cultural centers throughout Berkeley, including Brasarte and Freight & Salvage.

    Camp Counselor Job Responsibilities:

    Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.

    Maintains a schedule for camp participants.

    Leads various small and large group activities

    Ensures the cleanliness of the site.

    Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports and daily attendance.

    Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

    Understanding of conflict resolution and is able to mediate any campers’ disputes.

    Create physical and emotional safety for each and every camper within a team.

    Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your charges at all times.

    Reporting Details:

    Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8AM-4PM

    Where: at Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center, 1317 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley, CA

    Rate: $18.07/hr

    Dance, music, and art experience is a plus
